Supply chain is the network of manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers, who turn raw materials into finished goods and services and deliver them to consumers. Supply chains are increasingly being seen as integrated entities, and closer relationships between the organizations throughout the chain can bring competitive advantage, reduce costs, and help to maintain a loyal customer base. Fundamental to supply chain activities are landed cost improvements, stabilization of lead times and the need to match inventory investments with timely product availability. Ultimately, the entire supply chain is linked through information technology, creating ubiquitous visibility and access to information.

Hitachi China, IBM US and Shun Hing Logistics have formed a supply chain business group to produce computer servers in China. Electronic Components of servers are ordered from different locations and should be delivered the manufacturing sites in China. To order the electronic components just in time with needs from production line , it requires an efficient tool by information technology to help the ordering, monitoring and delivery. When the required components are delivered to warehouse on time without defects, accurate inventory should reflect the availability of stock, production needs and future orders. Besides, there are still financial settlement procedures to be handled, which need electronic invoices and status of payments. In year 2006 the group decided to use EDI to handle these processes. INFOMASTER has been successfully providing this solution to the group since 2006. "INFOMASTER's ECGlobal Enterprise Server offers us a rapid and stable transmission system to exchange Invoice (810), Purchase Order (850/860), Pull Signal (862), Goods Receipt (861), Advance Ship Notice (856) and Inventory (846) data with our partners IBM US and Integrated Shun Hing Logistics Co.", said Mr. Kent Kwan, Manager of Information Technology, Hitachi China. "The ECGlobal has also successfully integrated EDI data with SAP and Oracle applications. Now, the ECGlobal server handles electronic data in a flexible automatic schedule. It increases the supply chain efficiency so much on exchanging data with each business partner."
